Our mentors are people willing to embrace the Intergenerational near-to-peer mentoring model” to teach value-based practices, and empathy to youth ages 11-18 who struggle with social, emotional, relational and academic skills by developing soft skills associated with establishing positive relationships, support school-based social and emotional learning, experiential learning and self-instructional training to increase their pro-social behaviors and positive decision-making.
Tutors help the program set goals for understanding and pinpointing what mathematical skills need to be focused on and developed. 4 domains of math; numbers/operations, algebra, geometry, and measurement/data. Someone who is able is able to teach Epistemic Practices. Basically math behaviors. That are common core aligned. We want students to make sense of problems, persevere, and solve them.
